In order to enrich students’ cultural and recreational life, give full play to their team spirit, enhance their cohesion and sense of pride, our university’s Basketball Association and Department of Physical Education organized the 19^th HYIT Campus Basketball Tournament on April 24, which lasted more than a month. There were three group rounds, one semi-final round and one final round.

On May 21, at 7:00 p.m., the HYIT Campus Basketball Tournament opened at the Basketball Gymnasium in the south campus. All departments responded positively and organized students to watch the games. During the tournament, all the players, referees, staff and spectators showed passion. The cheerleaders were even more passionate. The referees were fair. All the players put friendship first and competition second, showing good manners while playing at high levels.

In the spirit of friendship and sportsmanship, the game began at the referee's whistle. The basketball tossed high in the air ignited everyone's passion. The final was between the team of the Faculty of Automation and the team of the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering. Before the game, the players warmed up, while the spectators were ready to cheer for them. With the referee's whistle, the game began. Jump ball, dribble, pass, cut, etc. Players on the two sides began to play fiercely. The atmosphere immediately became tense. The spectators shouted: "Come on! Come on!" The Faculty of Automation took a slight lead in the first half. Both sides had attacks, showing strong fighting spirit. In the loud cheers, the final came to an end. The team of the Faculty of Automation, captained by Wei Deyu, won the championship in the 19^th HYIT Campus Basketball Tournament.

There were both joys and sorrows when the game ended. Though the team of the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering lost the game, they fought bravely till the last second. Their perseverance moved everyone present. We believe that their basketball level will be improved qualitatively in the future when the team keeps running in.

This tournament not only showed the youthful demeanor of players but also enhanced the cohesion and combat effectiveness among students, cultivating their sense of honor and increased the friendship between different faculties. Our students' unity, harmony and fighting spirit were well displayed. Their team spirit of always striving to be the winner is worth learning by all the students of HYIT.

Sticking to the principle of "friendship first, competition second", this basketball tournament enriched students' after-school life, improved their passion for sports and their enthusiasm for physical exercises.
