From May 26th to 28th, the final of the 18th “Challenge Cup” National Extracurricular Academic and Technological Works Competition for College Students in Jiangsu Province was held in Changzhou University. After fierce competition, in the main competition, the entries of our school won 2 provincial first prizes, 1 second prize and 2 third prizes, one of which was recommended to apply for the national competition. In the special competition of advanced science and technology, one of our entries won the prize of “star”, three of them won the prize of “planet”, and one of them won the prize of “satellite”, which made a historic breakthrough.

It is reported that since the competition was started in March, all the colleges and universities in the province participated in it without exception. After the college-level and school-level preliminary competitions and provincial semi-competitions, a total of 699 works were shortlisted for the finals, with much more colleges participating and more complicated works created. As an “Olympic” event for contemporary college students’ scientific and technological innovation, “Challenge Cup” National Extracurricular Academic and Scientific and Technological Works Competition for College Students has gone through more than 30 years, which is held every two years.  It has become the most representative, authoritative, exemplary and oriented academic and scientific research competition for college students in China, and countless outstanding young talents have been cultivated and selected for the cause of scientific and technological innovation in China.

Our school attached great importance to the competition, and school leaders personally visited the preparation site to encourage and support the participating teams. All departments and faculties actively recommended, widely publicized and mobilized, and the Youth League Committee cooperated with the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship to do services with great enthusiasm and determination, inviting experts to guide the entries, arranging senior teachers to guide the details of the defense, and listening to the preparation report, which guaranteed the quality of the entries and improved the level of the participating teams. The teachers and students of the team prepared for the competition meticulously and polished the works continuously to ensure the high quality of the entries submitted. In the final defense, the students’ vivid expression, calm posture and excellent professionalism won the praise of the judges. In the next stage, the committee will seriously summarize the experience, continue to do good preparations for the national competition, and strive to make new breakthroughs in the national competition.

In recent years, under the strong leadership of the Party Committee of the school and the Provincial Youth League Committee and the guidance of the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, the Youth League Committee of the school has cultivated students’ innovative consciousness, stimulated their innovative thinking, and enhanced their innovative ability by participating in the competition and cultivating the projects. As a result, a good atmosphere of innovative practice and education has been created in the school. All the members of the committee endeavor to contribute their youth to the construction of a high-level Huai’an University with distinctive characteristics.
