Recently, Jiangsu Organization Department of the Provincial Party Committee (the Office of Jiangsu Provincial Work Committee for Assessment) announced the assessment results of Leadership in Local Colleges and Universities in Jiangsu in 2021, and the leading group of our school ranked again the “Excellent Grade” after 2020.

In 2021, focusing on strengthening self-construction, the leading group of our school adhered to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, made an in-depth study of Xi Jinping’s key observations on education work, earnestly put into effect the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the Provincial Party Committee, and fully implemented the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education.

First, we have always been taking political building as the guiding principle,  and fully exerting the core role of leadership. We took a clear stance in maintaining political integrity, put into action the “First Issue” system of the Standing Committee of Party Committee, carrying out solid study and education of Party history, and thoroughly implemented “Regulations on the Work of Grassroots Organizations of CPC in Colleges and Universities”. Adhering to the guidance of the Party’s organizational line in the new era, we strengthened the overall leadership of the school in orientation and steering, decision-making, heading the team and ensuring implementation, we played a prominant role as the overall “locomotive” leader and coordinator in all areas of endeavor in every work of our school, strengthened political resolve and enhanced political ability, and firmly grasped the socialist direction of running schools. We adhered to a strong sentiment to education, always bearing in mind the people-centric approach, following the law of higher education, catching up with the sense of urgency and responsibility, and practising the original mission of cultivating talents for the Party and the State. Second, we fully implemented the president-accountability system under the leadership of the Party committee, focusing on optimizing the overall function of the leading group. We conscientiously implemented the procedural rules of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, the President’s Office, and the Plenary Meeting of the Party Committee, standardized the scope and matters of decision-making, clarified the boundaries of power and decision-making procedures, and have established a cooperative and smooth decision-making mechanism .Third, we have been seriously implementing the democratic centralism and continuously improving the governance capacity of the leading group. The school Party Committee runs the school according to the university constitution, gives full play to the roles of Congress of Teacher Representatives, Congress of Student Representatives, Academic Committee and so on, listens to the opinions of teachers and students on important issues of the school development and reform, strictly implements the “Three and One Major Issues” collective policy-making system which has effectively guaranteed the democratic management and the law-based governance of the school. In 2021, in compliance with the principle of both COVID-19 prevention and control and intensifying education and teaching, the school leading group took the lead and shouldered their responsibilities, scientifically dealt with complex situations and various risks, safeguarded their positions, and ensured the orderly operation of the school. We have formulated the 14th Five-Year Plan for the development of the school in a scientific way, adhered to a problem-oriented approach, faced the bottlenecks and difficulties in the school reform and development. Taking into consideration of the overall situation while planning ahead, we have created orderly strategies, optimized the assessment and evaluation mechanism, and therefore promoted the sustainable and high-quality development of the school.Fourth, we have strengthened the management of the leading group through multiple measures and created a clean and upright campus political environment.We strengthened supervision and management, earnestly standardized the thematic  meetings of criticism and self-criticism in which the members of the leading group actively participated, implemented the “Guidelines for Intra-Party Political Life under New Circumstances”, and promulgated the “HYIT Implementation Measures for the Supervision and Management of ‘the head honcho’ and the Leading Group”. We strictly implemented the requirements of the provincial Party committee on the team construction, supervision and management, and the  “three states” of our school continued to improve.

In 2021, the leading group of our school united and led all the teachers, students and staff to reform, maintaining the right political orientation and breaking new ground, and led the school to make new achievements in party building and high-quality development. Our school had been approved as a master’s degree awarding institution and ranked once again the First Class in the Comprehensive Assessment of Colleges and Universities in Jiangsu in 2021.
