Dear faculty members, students, alumni, and friends,

As the new year begins, everything turns new. On the occasion of bidding farewell to the fruitful 2021 and ushering in the promising 2022, on behalf of HYIT Party Committee administration, we would like to extend our best regards and New Year wishes to the dedicated staff members who work hard and silently and to the students who study assiduously. We would like to express our high respect and heartfelt thanks to the leaders at all levels, alumni at home and abroad and friends from all walks of life who have been caring and supporting the development of the school all the time!

The year 2021 has been a milestone in the history of our Party and our country. Under the influence of unprecedented changes in the world in a century and the global pandemic of COVID-19, the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has rallied and led the whole Party and the people of all ethnic groups in China to overcome the difficulties together and have accomplished remarkable achievements: we solemnly celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of CPC; the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee was successfully held and has adopted the Party’s third resolution on historical issues; we have realized a moderately prosperous society in all respects and achieved the first centenary goal; we have embarked on a new journey toward the second centenary goal of building a modern socialist country in all respects, leading the world in both economic development and epidemic control. The 14th Five-Year Plan has got off to a great start.

Similarly, the year of 2021 is also a milestone year in the history of our school. We implemented earnestly the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee, the provincial Party committee and the provincial government, strengthened comprehensively the Party building, and tried hard to guarantee the reform and development. We sweated and we toiled as we pressed ahead with concrete efforts for achievements, and have accomplished many major events, solved many urgent and difficult problems, and achieved fruitful results.

This year, we completed the high-quality development planning, benchmarked ourselves against the overall plan of both Jiangsu and our country during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, fully implemented “The Overall Plan of Deepening the Reform of Educational Evaluation in the New Era”, Proceeding from HYIT’s realities, earnestly fulfilled our school’s overall plan during the 14th Five-Year Plan period and 10 special planning work, made clear the main goals and tasks of the school’s reform and development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, forming a “1+ 10” high-level planning system.

This year, we were approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee as a master’s degree awarding unit with excellent results. At the same time, we were approved three master’s degree authorization points including Materials and Chemical Engineering, Transportation and Agriculture, realizing a historic leap at the school level and laying a solid foundation for creating a high-level Huai’an University with distinctive characteristics.

This year, we have made a major breakthrough in our discipline construction, with the engineering discipline entering the top 1% of ESI in the world, marking that the discipline has entered the international high-level ranks. The five provincial key disciplines in the “13th Five-Year Plan” successfully passed the final acceptance with the result of “2 excellent and 3 qualified”, the application of provincial key disciplines in the “14th Five-Year Plan” has been progressing smoothly, and the leading role of disciplines was further highlighted.

This year, we made every effort to promote the establishment of Huai’an University, set up a leading group for the establishment of Huai’an University, vigorously strengthened the connotation construction according to the requirements of the university indicators, and strengthened the communication and work report with authorities and local governments. A good environment and atmosphere for the university establishment has been formed.

This year, the school has achieved remarkable results in high-quality development. We made major breakthroughs in the construction of specialties and disciplines. The undergraduate education and teaching reform has achieved remarkable results, the quality of student training and talent team construction has been continuously improved, the scientific and technological innovation service ability has been significantly enhanced, the school-running has been more dynamic, and the governance efficiency has been continuously improved. Our school ranks 297th in China, 8th in applied technology universities in China in 2021, 78th in Chinese university patent transformation list, 68th in national university patent license list, and 202nd in innovation and entrepreneurship competitiveness of Chinese public universities.

This year, the Party has opened up a new realm for its overall leadership over school work, adhered to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, strengthened the self-construction of the leading bodies, deeply understood the establishment of Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and the defining of the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, strengthened the consciousness of the need to maintain political integrity, think in big-picture terms, follow the leadership core, and keep in alignment with the central Party leadership, stayed confident in the path, theory, system, and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics, upheld Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole, and upheld the Central Committee’s authority and its centralized, unified leadership. We warmly celebrated the centenary birthday of the Party, made solid progress in the study and education of Party history, and always maintained close ties with the people, empathize and work with them, stand with them through good times and bad to make new achievements. The whole school forged ahead through concerted efforts, and has jointly composed a colorful chapter in the the history of the school development.

The big boat flows down and the green mountains on the two sides seem to move along. In 2021, hard work, sweat and achievements accompanied us; looking ahead to 2022, challenges, opportunities and hope will stay together with us. Let us adhere to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the guidance, make efforts to cultivate young people, taking discipline construction as the engine, faculty construction as the core, reform and innovation as the driving force, condition construction as the guarantee, carry forward the great party spirit, hard entrepreneurial spirit and fighting spirit, strengthen the connotation construction, improve management level, and strive to promote the school to achieve new development, achieve a new leap and to a new level!

Dear faculty members, comrades, students, and friends, the bell is about to ring for the New Year. Together with the inspiring 2022 New Year bell, let us strive with great ambition, fighting consciousness, high tenacity, and lofty sentiments to embark on a new journey, make new contributions, reap good harvest, and realize more achievements in the construction of a distinctive high-level Huai’an university!
