Recently, China Machinery Industry Federation and Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society announced the list of 2021 Science and Technology Award of China Machinery Industry in the Decision on Commending 2021 Science and Technology Award of China Machinery Industry (Mechanical Science [2021] No. 189). The project of “key technology and application of large heavy-duty Niemann worm gear pair” declared by Professor Sun Quanping’s scientific research team of our school and Jiangsu Jinxiang Transmission Equipment Co., Ltd. won the third prize of Scientific and Technological Progress Award of China Machinery Industry.

The series of key innovative technologies of Niemann worm gear pair developed by the project have been applied to the products of well-known enterprises at home and abroad, such as SMS Siemag, Italy Danieli, Baowu Steel, CFHI, CERI, Southern Metallurgy, Fujian Dingxin, Taiyuan Stainless steel, Sinosteel, Purple Mountain Observatory, etc., resulting in social and economic benefits of 1.87 billion yuan. The output value of Jiangsu Jinxiang Transmission Equipment Co., Ltd. using these technologies has reached 156 million yuan, 30.78 million yuan of which has been made by more than 70 large reduction reducers with a maximum center distance of 965mm. The products are used in metallurgical machinery manufacturing, with stable operation and remarkable economic and social benefits.
