From October 8 to 14, the 10th National Metallographic Skills Competition for College Students was successfully held in Huo Yingdong Sports Center, Minhang Campus, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Under the guidance of Faculty members Zhang Qiuyang, Wang Zhengjun and Liu Jingjing, Tang Xuecong, Sun Jian and Miao Xincheng from Faculty of Mechanical and Material Engineering, won the first, second and third prizes in the individual competition respectively.
The competition was sponsored by the National Education Steering Committee of Material Major and the like of the Ministry of Education and organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and attracted more than 1,100 contestants from 370 universities all over the country to participate in the competition.
It is known that the National Metallographic Skills Competition for College Students is a professional practical skills competition for students in China, aiming at improving college students’ metallographic skills and practical ability, and cultivate “craftsman spirit” through the training of professional basic skills. The event was originally launched by Tsinghua University, University of Science and Technology Beijing and other universities in 2012, and has become a competition with the highest standard, the most perfect system, the widest coverage and the most influence. In 2020, the competition entered the national College Student Discipline Competition List, which reflects the full recognition and great attention of the Ministry of Education to the competition.
