Faculty of Marxism

         The Faculty of Marxism is a teaching and administrative unit directly under the leadership of the Huaiyin Institute of Technology (HYIT). It mainly undertakes the teaching tasks of ideological and political theory courses for undergraduates and postgraduates, and also studies and constructs the subject on Marxist theory.

        The predecessor of the Faculty is the Marxist-Leninist and Moral Education Department under the Department of Social Sciences of Huaiyin Institute of Technology (renamed the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences in 2004 and the Faculty of Humanities in 2009). In April 2011, HYIT decided to set up an independent teaching department of ideological and political theory, and renamed it Faculty of Marxism in August 2016.

        The Faculty of Marxism now has four teaching departments: Chinese Modern History, Basic Principles of Marxism, Mao Zedong Thoughts and the Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis, two research institutes: Zhou Enlai Research Center and Huai’an Red Culture Research Center, plus a comprehensive office and a reference room.

         The Faculty has 39 staff members and 34 full-time teachers, among which there are five professors, 21 associate professors and 10 lecturers. All teachers have Master’s degree or above. There are three Master’s supervisors, one “Famous teacher in Teaching” of HYIT, three Teacher’s Morality Pacesetters, and one of first and second prizes of the Young Teachers’ Teaching Competition respectively.

        In recent years, with the high attention and strong support of the university, the Marxist Faculty has obtained many achievements in curriculum construction, teaching research, research reform and improvement of teaching quality. The faculty members have won two provincial High-quality Courses, one school-level High-quality Course, first and second prizes of school level Excellent Teaching Achievement Award, as well as many other prizes in the school’s teaching competitions, multimedia courseware competitions and micro-course teaching competitions. In 2017, it was highly praised in the evaluation on the construction of Ideological and Political Theory Courses in Colleges and Universities by the Ministry of Education.
