If the young are strong, the country will be strong; if the young are rich, the country will be rich. For a long time, the volunteer team "Little Rain Drops" of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering has been adhering to the principles of "dedication, friendship, mutual help and progress" and caring for the healthy growth of the younger generation. Shortly before the International Children's Day (June 1), in order to care for poor left-behind children, promote their healthy growth, let them feel care and warmth and create a good social environment, the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, together with Alibaba Foundation, Zhejiang Women and Children's Foundation and Kunshan Sunshine Family Mutual Aid Center, organized a charitable activity entitled "Growing Together with Youth, Building a New Future with Dreams" to show care for poor left-behind children at the Meicheng Road campus of HYIT on the morning of May 25. Fifty teachers and students from the Central Primary School of Wudun Town and the Central Primary School of Heping Town in Huai'an, 40 volunteers from the volunteer team "Little Rain Drops" of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, and 20 first-grade volunteers from Huai’an Tianjin Road Primary School took part in this activity.

This charitable activity entitled "Growing Together with Youth, Building a New Future with Dreams" to show care for poor left-behind children had eight parts, i.e. a welcome ceremony, a speech time, games and interactions, a gift giveaway, a tour of laboratories, a lunch at the campus cafeteria, a group birthday party, and a group photo session. During the activity, the volunteers paired up with poor left-behind children one to one and participated in all parts of the activity in pairs.

The activity started with the opening dance "The Style of Chinese Children" performed by 20 little volunteers from Huai'an Tianjin Road Primary School. They were solidary and friendly, lively and cheerful, which presented the Chinese style.

Our volunteers prepared a special welcome ceremony for the children by performing the sign language show "The Prettiest Light." The tender music purified everyone's mind. The graceful neat gestures and sweet smiles presented a different style. Young children are like the prettiest light, full of courage and toughness. With dreams, they are the hope of our motherland.

In the speech time, first, a keynote speech titled "Our Campus Life" was delivered by Shen Shibo from the Environment Class 1181 of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering of HYIT. The beautiful campus environment, profound cultural heritages, various student unions and society activities and colorful youth dreams greatly aroused the children's interest in learning and motivation for learning, planting a seed about dreams and future in their hearts. The second part of the speech session comprised speeches on the topic of "My Dreams." Four students, Zhang Yunian, Chen Ao, Zhu Hang and Tan Ziyue, from the Central Primary School of Wudun Town and the Central Primary School of Heping Town in Huai’an shared their dreams. They hope to water their dreams with sweat, achieve success with actions and realize their dreams as soon as possible.

During the time for games and interaction, the children eagerly played two classic games, "Passing on (Hot Potato)" and "Relinking the Broken Chain," which enlivened the atmosphere and enhanced the affection among the children.

The Faculty of Chemical Engineering of HYIT and Kunshan Sunshine Family Mutual Aid Center prepared exquisite hand-painted postcards and stationery sets for the children. The volunteers wrote their best wishes for the children on each postcard. As Children's Day approached, this special gift made the children feel warmth and care.

The tour arranged five parts, including a visit to the Library, Robotics Association, Automobile Association, National Vehicle and Traffic Virtual Simulation and Experiment Teaching Center and a Demonstration of Interesting Chemical Experiments. The children swam in the ocean of knowledge in the library and made up their mind to read more good books. The Robotics Association and Automobile Association prepared a robot show and an interactive automobile demonstration, which broadened the children's horizons, increased their experience, cultivated their interest in learning, and improved their independent thinking and hands-on ability. Teachers of the National Vehicle and Traffic Virtual Simulation and Experiment Teaching Center demonstrated experiment operations, traffic behaviors and safety simulations in a 3D VR interactive system, from a decommissioned CA770 Red Flag sedan to the specific process of automobile design and manufacturing and visualization realized by VR technology, leading the children in cognitive learning. After that, the children watched three interesting chemical experiments carefully designed by the Faculty of Chemical Engineering. The visit to the National Vehicle and Traffic Virtual Simulation and Experiment Teaching Center and the demonstration of interesting chemical experiments greatly stimulated the children's interest in science and innovation.

To let the children better experience the campus life, lunch was arranged at the multifunctional cafeteria of HYIT, coupled with a group birthday party on the occasion of Children's Day.

In the end, the teachers, students and volunteers who participated in the activity took group photos together.

This charitable activity entitled "Growing Together with Youth, Building a New Future with Dreams" to show care for poor left-behind children ended as the volunteers said farewells to the children while seeing them off. This activity was well-organized, carefully arranged and rich in contents and achieved the desired results. The children had a wonderful day on the campus of HYIT. They broadened their horizons, increased their experience, enhanced their interest in learning, stimulated their yearning to attend university and firmed their determination to study hard. The volunteers paired up with the children one to one throughout the whole process, making the children feel care and warmth. The volunteer team "Little Rain Drops" of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering, will make unremitting efforts to care for the growth of children, move forward with love, gather strength for left-behind children and thumb up for love.
